Most customers check your website before they call, visit or book. If it is slow, out of date or hard to use on a phone, many of them simply go to the next result on Google. Run through these ten checks and count how many you can tick.
- It loads in under three seconds on a phone
- It looks right and is easy to use on a phone
- Your phone number and WhatsApp are one tap away
- Your opening hours and address are correct
- It shows up when people search your service and town
- It has your Google reviews or real testimonials
- Every service has its own clear page
- It has a secure padlock (https)
- You can update prices and photos without paying every time
- It was updated in the last year
If you ticked fewer than seven
Your website is probably costing you enquiries. The good news is that a fast, modern website does not need to be complicated or expensive to run.
What a good small business website does
It answers the questions customers ask before they contact you, makes contacting you easy, and gives Google clear pages to show for each service and town you cover. Speed matters too: Google uses page speed and mobile experience as ranking signals.
